Facebook is currently experimenting with a new feature that syncs photos taken with an Android phone with Facebook. Not unlike iCloud syncs between iPhones, Macs, iPods, and iPads, the Photo Syncing feature automatically stores photos taken on your phone onto your social network account.
I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry – it doesn’t share without your permission. So you won’t be flagged for accidentally uploading inappropriate snaps of your mate on the toilet with just a little too much on show, and you’ll be spared from unintentionally uploading thirty five self-snaps in the mirror trying to get the perfect pose and lighting for your profile picture… I know you do it.
After syncing, the photos will be waiting for you, and once you log-in, you’ll then be able to decide which photos are Facebook-worthy, and which you can either delete, or just keep on your phone.
Only in testing phase, the function is available for a select few people with the latest Facebook Android app.
Synchronisation occurs as soon as you take the photo, but factors in your battery life and settings before uploading.
Sync settings are fully customisable, and you can choose to only upload whilst connected to Wi-Fi, which prevents it from uploading behind your back and racking up a bill by connecting to your mobile network’s internet. Photos are also adjusted to a smaller size at around 100k, which once again helps with your data plan.
This new feature for Android-users will definitely make the process of photo uploading much easier, especially for multiple uploads. As long as your settings are adjusted to your needs and wants, I’m sure it’ll prove to be a handy feature for snap-happy social sharers!
