Apple vs Google Android: Mobile SEO | The Digital Clicks Blog

To tackle the growing popularity of Android-based devices, Apple has filed multiple lawsuits regarding patents on tablets and mobile technology. Attacking Samsung and HTC devices that support Google’s industry-leading smartphone platform, Apple claims that the masses of their mobiles and tablets violate patents in terms of both design and utility. These assaults are the latest ongoing feud for success in the smartphone and tablet market. A market still in its early stages of growth is a constant battle between the leading mobile technology giants. With full web browsing on mobile devices only recently hitting the mainstream, the mobile web is mystical and widely unknown to everyone in the industry. One thing is certain, however: SEO will be crucial in establishing successful Internet marketing in the mobile realm. The important thing to remember is that mobile web and “desktop web” are not the same thing; a different set of principles must be followed to stay ahead of the game in mobile SEO. Here are some points to keep in mind: User requirements on the mobile web are different; search engines behave differently on the mobile web; the online activity of users differs on mobile devices; and building a successful mobile site for SEO must be tackled differently. Taking control of mobile ad space and search engine optimisation has been key for the leading brands in the industry too. Last year, Apple tried to take on Google’s hold on mobile marketing with Apple iAds. The service began well but gradually lost clients to Google Mobile Ads, causing them to make massive cuts to their prices in some cases. With Google remaining the dominant force in terms of online marketing and SEO, as well as mobile and tablet devices, it seems their universal power is at an all-time high and a threat to competitors across all industries. It’s an indication of how important it is to get ahead in mobile SEO while it’s still a relatively unknown aspect of Internet marketing.
