Consumers like being asked for reviews | Digital Clicks Blog

Your company’s online reputation management is now more important than ever, and this trend will only continue to grow as time goes on. Nowadays, it is easy for large proportions of potential tech-savvy customers to look online and find out how others review a product or service before making any purchase decision. This can particularly be the case when selling items of higher value, as customers are even more inclined to search for the best deals to get the biggest bang for their buck and spend their cash wisely. It is not always the case, however, of good review versus bad. Clever internet marketing strategies have shown that consumers are far more likely to click on links that have any reviews at all than those that have none, even if that company has only received an average rating. So online reputation management is important, but how do you go about getting these reviews? You don’t need tricky internet marketing strategies to get them; it is simple; just ask, and you shall receive. The results from a consumer survey reported by local business review company “Ratepoint” showed that a whopping 70% of customers appreciate being asked to write a review by a local business, with only a mere 6% saying they wished not to be asked. I understand that a lot of businesses are concerned about the damage that can be caused when a negative review is posted. However, while yes, there is a potential for negative scores to cause a few problems, often when a company is willing to deal with the customer's problem and makes an attempt to resolve the issue publicly, it reflects positively and can often turn a negative into a positive. In fact, by asking you for reviews from a customer, you are more likely to receive a higher proportion of good reviews. This is because, generally speaking, it is often more likely for a customer to take the time to write a negative review as they wish for their voice to be heard and are angry with the service, whereas satisfaction is expected only by going the extra mile is it possible to impress your customers. However, by asking for a review, you prompt these satisfied customers to give back and write a review that improves your company’s reputation.
