Facebook Timeline and how to get it before everybody else

The new Facebook feature that everyone is talking about, "Timeline,” is set to do just as the name suggests: create a timeline of your life as Facebook understands it. The new profile layout orders your life in reverse chronological order, showing all information you have entered that Facebook considers as important. This includes your birth, when you have graduated from school or university, your first job, when you get married, and much more. It displays statuses and posts images and videos that have been uploaded related to these events. Have a little watch of this video; Facebook does a good job of selling the idea. YouTube What this means for Facebook ads, I am not sure, as they appear to no longer be present on the updated profile page. While the feature hasn’t been officially launched yet and won’t be for at least a few more weeks, there is a way you can give it a go right now. It is, however, in its beta stage, so there are still a few kinks to work out, including some privacy bugs that you should be careful of. But if that doesn’t concern you, here is how you go about it: First type developer into the Facebook search bar and click this app. You will need to enter your password and click the allow button. You will be greeted with a screen that looks like this. Click the Create New App button. As no one else but you will see this, enter anything you like into the boxes. Now select Open Graph and enter in the initial information; again, this can be anything you like. From here you will be greeted with a couple of pages containing several variables that you can arrange depending on your liking, or skip if you choose depending on your preferences. Follow that through; it’s dead simple. Once that is completed, you will have to wait a minute or two for the update to take place. The new option will then appear on your profile page; select Get It Now, and away you go, you can start using Timeline! Bear in mind though that others without Timeline enabled will view your page in the normal old style. Once set up, you can tweak your profile how you like, swap out photos, change your cover picture, and add important dates to you, including ones that predate Facebook, etc. Have a play with it and let us know what you think of the whole thing. Do you feel it is a new exciting change and you can’t wait? Are you enjoying the lack of Facebook ads on your profile? Or are you against the change and are more concerned it is another excuse for people to have a nose at your personal information?
