Google’s more Personalised Results with “Search Plus Your World”
Google has launched a new search method called 'search plus your world'. The new format by Google promises some radical new changes in the search experience. The new format mixes content that had been previously shared with the searcher along with content from the public web. The feature hasn't fully launched yet, and only those users who use the English version of Google would be able to witness it. Google will alert you if you are one of the lucky ones by displaying 'Welcome to Google search plus world on the top'. The new format will be beneficial to many users, as they will get both privately shared content and public results via a single search, for which they would have had to do two separate searches. Search Plus Your World, though an innovative move, will cause some privacy issues as the private content would be displayed like it is being shared publically, and more people would get to view the photos than they intended by the person who posted them. Google might again face some fire from users as it is making a move to use its search engine to its advantage rather than giving importance to users. The release is expected to change the dynamics of the entire digital marketing industry. The release would also raise concerns for any SEO specialist, as he would now have to try harder in order to secure rankings. In February 2005, Google introduced the concept of personalised results, wherein some results were given a boost in the rankings because they seemed to be of interest to the searcher. The personalised results have gone through radical changes over the year. Google also launched social results in October 2009. The social results were mixed with the regular results in February 2011. With this move, Google has expanded its arsenal of searches and brought together personal, public, private, and social searches under a single domain. Google has now combined the personalised search, social search, and personal search algorithms under one algorithm, a move that is actually aimed at improving the whole search experience. You will know that you are getting personalised results when you see an indicator on the top left saying 'x personal results any other results'. Another indicator will be a male icon toggle on the right top, which will allow an SEO agency to switch between a personalised search and a normal search. If the icon is dark, it indicates that the search is personalised. Personalised results include several things, which include listing from the web, some of which may get a boost because of your behaviour or because of your social connections. Public posts and photos on Google+ or photos from Picasa. They would also include private and limited posts on Google+ that have been shared with you. The search methodology, however, does not cover results from Facebook, Twitter, Flicker, or any other social networking website. Google says that their terms and services do not allow Google to post their data, however, they say that they will remain open to discussions if a possibility of such dealing arises in the future.
