Increase Your LinkedIn Followers

So far in this series on How to use LinkedIn for business, we’ve covered setting up a LinkedIn business page, and how to set up a personal LinkedIn page. Next, we will discuss how to increase your follower count. Follower count has been called a vanity metric, because audience size doesn’t say much about your influence in the businesses world. For example, you may have hundreds or even thousands of followers on your company social media – but have you got them by posting pictures of cats sitting in things? Very unlikely. However, it is essential not to dismiss increasing your follower count on LinkedIn! It cannot be denied that engaging with followers on social media increases your relationship with them and thus the potential sales. This blog will give you tips to help increase your follower count on LinkedIn for business use. Ask your personal first-tier connections to follow your new work page. You probably forgot this one, or else completely overlooked it because it seemed too simple or felt too pushy. Do it! The worst that can happen is that they won’t follow. If they do, check if they’d like the favour returned. Follow all your followers. Follow your clients and prospective clients. It will keep you thoroughly in the loop for trends and opinions. If you have other social media accounts, such as Facebook or Twitter, share your page on there. Use both your personal and your social accounts – unless there’s a lot of follower overlap. The last thing you want is to put people off by being seen to 'spam' your new page. Don’t get so caught up in aiming for new clients and customers that you forget your in-house advantages: your staff! Get them to follow your page. Get them to recommend your page to their connections, and promote it on their social media accounts. So, you’re sharing and telling people to share right and left. Have you taken steps to make the process easy? People prefer easy, one-click actions. LinkedIn provides businesses with lovely profile widgets. Add them to your website, blog(s), email signatures and anywhere else you can think of! This makes it easy for people to check you out: all they have to do is click the symbol next to your name and your company profile pops up. If you cold-email people, this could make all the difference. Not only are people likely to click through to your LinkedIn page and possibly follow you there, having seen that you are a genuine company they are more likely to trust you. This means that your emails may well end up more successful. A very important tip is to join relevant LinkedIn groups. Not only can you promote your page there to a wider audience, but if you contribute to the discussions in an authoritative and knowledgeable way, you will increase your reputation as a leader in your area. Similarly, connect your blog and your LinkedIn. Put a link to a particularly good article onto your LinkedIn page. Write a blog about LinkedIn and link your page at the bottom. As in other areas of digital marketing, producing informative, original content gives other businesses in the area a fantastic incentive to follow you. Make people interested in what you have to say. All right: you’ve encouraged people to come to your LinkedIn page. They’re flocking in. But are they returning?! Is your page constantly updated with new information? If you regularly link from LinkedIn to your site or blog, is it well-formatted in all the major browsers? How does it look on mobiles? Get feedback from your followers. Asking opinions is a great method of engagement anyway: kill two birds with one stone. We hope this blog gave you some ideas for increasing your follower count on your LinkedIn business page!
