Planning and Reaching SEO Goals | The Digital Clicks Blog

There are three main factors that have contributed to the growing importance of SEO: search engines are the driving force behind massive amounts of online traffic, visibility in search engine rankings gives a company an air of successful professionalism, and consumers are relying on what they see or read on the Internet before making a purchase. It is fundamental, therefore, that a proper set of goals be planned before an SEO campaign and maximum effort. If your goals aren’t measurable, then they’re simply no good. By setting up targets, you can determine whether or not your SEO efforts are having an effect. Successful search engine optimisation is more of a lifestyle choice for your company than a quick-fix solution to boost your marketing. If you focus on a set of long-term goals that follow a well-planned process, the results will not happen overnight, but your reward will be rewarded in the long run. Some of the main factors that should be taken into account when planning SEO include:

  • What is the company trying to promote?
  • Which market is it aimed at?
  • What is the company’s brand?
  • How is their website structured?
  • What is their current site content like?
  • How easy would it be to modify the current content and site structure?
  • Is there any content immediately available?
  • What resources are at the company’s disposal for creating new content?
  • How does the company rank compared to the competition? If you can answer these questions, then you’ve got the basic ingredients for your SEO plan. When deciding upon your goals and your strategy, be sure to keep the competition in mind. If you are a new company with a brand new site, there’s a large chance your competitors will have vast quantities of rich content that links deeply within their site. So your best bet, in this case, would be to focus on providing a new feature that they, as an older company, may have overlooked. A new and exciting company with a good SMO strategy as well as the standard SEO tasks, for example, could prove a major threat to an older company that has overlooked social media as something to be integrated with an Internet marketing campaign. Of course, all of this takes massive amounts of time and dedication to ensure that it is done correctly. It is often most effective, therefore, to recruit the help of an online marketing company to gain professional help in planning the best SEO strategic goals and reaching them.
