Keyword stuffing is widely frowned upon by Google, and the activity could lead to a search penalty, lowering your quality score. In other words, if you fill your page with needless keywords, it won't improve your chances of ranking higher, it will do the opposite.
What is Keyword Stuffing? Keyword stuffing is the process of filling your site content with needless keywords, again and again. For example, if you are writing a blog piece on 'Which Vacuum Cleaner Is Best?' and your main keyword is: 'Vacuum Cleaner' and you then wrote 500 words on this including this keyword 100 times, even where it doesn't make sense. This would be keyword stuffing. An example paragraph would look like: "When trying to find the best vacuum cleaner, its important to consider which vacuum cleaner is going to fit your cleaning habits. Unfortunately, there are lots of vacuum cleaners on the internet that don't do the job of a vacuum cleaner and don't pick up the dirt like you would imagine a vacuum cleaner would." Google and your reader will HATE this technique and your site will be penalised.
Why Keyword Stuffing No Longer Works This process used to work in the early days of SEO, when ranking purely depended on the number of keywords on a page, but now, Google and other search engines are much more clever. The reason behind this is, Google notices that content writers were creating articles without providing any value to the readers. Their main objective was to spam the site with keywords in the content to rank high on Google Search. Now, however, instead of just looking for exact-match keywords, Google now understands the intent behind a searcher’s query and ranks pages which match that search intent - clever right?!
How to Avoid Keyword Stuffing The key is LSI Keywords, these are keywords that all relate to each other. This way it lets Google know what the topic of the page is without stuffing that topic keyword into the content. For example, let’s say you write an article optimized around the keyword “Apple”. How does Google know whether your page is about, apple fruit or apple the tech giant? Here you can use LSI Keywords like IPod, Ipad, IOS, Macbook Air & Apple Accessories. This way you avoid keyword stuffing, and Google still knows where to direct users. Are you wanting to up your knowledge on other parts of digital marketing?
